What We Believe

GOD – God is the creator and ruler of the universe. We believe that God co-exists simultaneously in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God The Holy Spirit, yet is One God. This is commonly referred to as the Trinity. (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 6:8; Matthew 3:16-17; John 17)

THE BIBLE – The Bible both Old and New Testaments are the inspired and infallible word of God. We believe that God inspired the human authors of scripture by the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible is our authority for life and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

MAN – Man was created in the image of God to walk in close relationship with Him. We believe that through disobedience, man was separated from God and all human beings are born with a sin nature. Subsequently we believe that man is in need of a Savior. (Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 3:23, 5:18-21.)

JESUS – Jesus IS the Savior that mankind desperately needs. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified on a cross for our sins, was resurrected three days later, and now sits in Heaven at the right hand of God the Father.Through Jesus Christ and Him alone we can have a restored relationship with God. We also believe that Jesus Christ was the only God-Man. 100 % God and 100 % Man simultaneously.(Matthew 1:23, Hebrews 7:26, 1 Corinthians 15:3,-4,John 3:16, 14:6; Philippians 2:6-11.)

SALVATION – God’s unmerited favor is shown to us in the free gift of salvation. We cannot earn a right relationship with God through good works. We are saved by grace and kept by grace alone through Jesus Christ alone. Through Jesus, we are not only saved from the eternal consequence of sin, we are provided access to divine healing, protection, and provision because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. (Ephesians 2:4-10, Colossians 2:6, Romans 3:24, Isaiah 53:4-5, James 5:14-16,Philippians 4:19)

THE HOLY SPIRIT – The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and Son as God. He opens our eyes to what God has freely given us, fills us with power to live for God, and leads us as we journey with God. He dwells in every believer who has accepted the free gift of salvation. Jesus Christ also fills believers with the Holy Spirit. This filling is an empowering work for set-apart living which occurs as an initial work the spirit does when we receive salvation, and any time a believer asks God for the help of His Spirit . (II Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-13; 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 2:12; 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18)

SPIRITUAL GIFTS – God gives all believers spiritual gifts that are to be used to worship Him, build up and encourage believers, and spread the good news of Jesus. All  gifts of the Spirit listed in the Bible continue to be expressed in the church today and are subject to the order prescribed by Scripture. (Acts 1:9, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11:8; Acts 2:1-4; 10:44-48; 19:1-6.)

ETERNITY – Everyone who has ever lived will spend eternity either in a literal heaven or a literal hell. Jesus Christ will return bodily, visibly, and personally to conform believers to His own image. He will judge the living and the dead and will effect a final separation of those who have accepted His free gift of salvation and those who have rejected it, assigning unbelievers to eternal punishment and believers to eternal glory. (Matthew 24:15-31; Mark 13:24-37; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Revelation 19, 20, 21)

THE CHURCH – The Church exists as the Body of Jesus here on earth. The mission of the church is to worship God, share the good news of Jesus through out the world, encourage and build up Christ-followers, and show the tangible love and compassion of Jesus to the world. The Kingdom of God is a present reality and a future hope, forcibly advancing through the agency of the church. (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 4:11-16, James 1:27)
